18-24 Year Old Demographic Far More Receptive to Mobile Ads

A recent study by BIGresearch of 16,000 mobile device users reveals that the vast majority of adult mobile users are not responsive to either mobile video or text ads. In fact, the average number is around 6 to 7% of respondents who admit to being influenced in an electronics purchase by mobile media.

However, with 18 to 24 year-olds, the number who report mobile video influences them jumps all the way to 14% and near 16% for text messaging, double the average for adult users.

14 of 100 Most Popular Search Terms Include “.com” in Search

hitwise_logo.gifHitwise released the top ten search terms in ten different categories for the month of May, and of the 100 most popular search terms, 14 of them actually had “.com” included within the search.

Search engine usage is so hardwired into Internet users’ brains that instead of just putting “myspace.com” in to the URL bar, they plug it into the search bar in their browsers, run it through the search engines, and then click through there.

It makes little sense since people have to be smart enough to know that if they just input the .com URL into their browser, it will take them directly to the site in one less step. It just proves how search has become the catch-all for the Internet.

Track TV Ad Impact With Google TV Ads

new_logo.gifGoogle is now providing a way for marketers to test the impact of TV ads on web traffic with real-time results.

Google TV Ads will track the time and network the ads were displayed on and reveal how each ad impacted web traffic at the time. Google will merge this with other analytics to give an idea of the effectiveness of the ad as well.

Since most ads aren’t shown nationally, Google allows users to see how the ad impacted in the market the ad was shown in.

Frivolous or Just Slightly Frivolous? Google Sued For AdWords Fraud

google_logo.jpgAlright, let’s suppose we did a Google search for the keyword “ringtones,” and we clicked on one of the AdWords ad on the right side of the page. We go to some ringtones site and download a ringtone or six. Lets also suppose we are think we’re getting the ringtones for free, but we get a charge on our account next month. What do we do?

Sue Google, that’s what we do! They never should have let us click on a site that was misleading us, and they should pay us all $5 million.

Jenna Goddard, a New Jersey resident, had just such the above scenario happen to her, and now she’s suing Google. Her lawyer is also trying to turn this into a class action lawsuit.

Wikia Search Makes Results Editable

front-logo.pngAt this point, Wikia Search is not the search engine you need. There are only 30 million indexed pages (”hardly a full crawl,” as Jimmy Wales puts it), and the results are sketchy and unreliable.

However, now Wikia Search is making the results heavily editable in a similar fashion as Wikipedia. I just did a search for our site, Equari, and it did not appear in the results. However, I was able to add equari.com, create a title and description for it, and spotlight it as the most relevant result for a search of “equari.”
